ZARAI TARAQIATI BANK LIMITED in COLLABORATION with Agricultural Mechanization Research Institute (AMRI), ORGANIZED a FIED DAY for DEMONSIRATION of MAIZE COB HARVESTER

Zarai Taraqiai Bank Limited (ZTBL) in collaboration with Agricultural Mechanization Research Institute (AMRI), Multan organized a field day for demonstration of Maize Cob Harvester in Sahiwal. The programme was attended by the Executives/Officials of ZTBL from Head Office, Sahiwal & Okara Zones, Engineers & Scientists from AMRI, Multan & Sahiwal, well reputed Agri. Machinery Manufacturers from Okara, Sahiwal, Mian Channua & Multan and a large number of progressive farmers/growers. The purpose of the said programme was to create awareness about the latest Maize Cob Harvester to the farming community particularly Maize growers.
Programme started with the recitation of few verses from the Holy
Quran. Mr.Mustansar Billah, Zonal Chief, ZTBL, Sahiwal welcomed the participants. Mr.Ghulam Sidddique, Director (AMRI) informed the participants that keeping in view the labour shortage problem being faced by the farmers at the time of harvesting of Maize crop, two units of Maize Cob Harvesters have been imported from Slovenia by AMRI to mechanize the harvesting of the crop. It is two Rows Maize Cob Harvester which can be operated with above 55 HP tractor and its field capacity is One Acre per hour. This machine will save the farmers cost of harvesting upto 50% and in Kasur & other uppoer areas it will save up to 70% of
their harvesting cost besides in time harvesting and enabling the farmers to prepare
their field for next crop well in time.
Mr.Farhat Karim Hashmi, Executive Vice President, (Planning,
Research & Technology Division)/ Chief Guest, in his speech highlighted the role of ZTBL in strengthening and modernizing the Agriculture Sector. He apprised the
participants that ZTBL is pioneer in introducing a number of latest agri. machinery
items/technologies/techniques, Hybrid Seeds, Imported Seedless Citrus plants,
Dairy Machinery, Combine Harvesting Technology etc. in the country and today's
event is also part of that Technology Dissemination Programme of ZTBL. In his
concluding remarks he told the manufacturers and the farmers that ZTBL has
undertaken a new initiative of "Service Providers" in which the Bank may meet
financial services upto Rs.25.000 million for Machinery Pool and urged them to
benefit from this scheme and extend agri. services to the farmers of the area.
Later on Maize Cob Harvester was demonstrated to the participants
and its performance was found quite satisfactory. A few progressive farmer have
reviewed it critically and suggested that the local version should have a row to row
spacing according to local practices i.e. 2 to 2.5 '. The participants have appreciated
the role of ZTBL for arranging such awareness session in collaboration with AMRI
and suggested that similar sessions/ events may be conducted in other parts of the
